Beliefs
We believe...
We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.
We believe that salvation is by God alone as He sovereignly chooses those He will save. We believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation.
We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people not simply as individuals but as families in successive generations according to His Covenant promises.
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.
We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Sam Kang
Pastor Sam started shepherding R/S English Congregation in April of 2011. He and his wife Peggy have been married since 2009 and are proud parents of Elijah Hyun Kang (born May 2011) and Micah Min (born March 2017).
He received his Bachelor’s from George Mason University in Psychology. By the grace of God, he graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Spring of 2012.
At R/S, Pastor Sam and Peggy oversee the English Ministry which is made up of the youth group and college group. When he is not holding baby Kang in his arms or chasing down the missing youth kids, Pastor Sam enjoys movies, basketball, late night IHOP runs, and football.
His philosophy of ministry can be summed up with this quote, “The People of God, grounded on the Word of God, living as disciples of Christ, in the power of the Spirit”
That means, that we define the church as God’s people, and not a building. It also means that we consider Scripture to be God’s perfect Word and it has all that is necessary for us to know Christ for our salvation and continued sanctification. Only in this way, can we live as true disciples of Christ in our everyday moments, not just in isolated incidents. And when we do this, the Holy Spirit empowers and enables us to obey, love, and live out the commands of God.
Pastor Sam was ordained by the Korean Capital Presbytery of the PCA on May 22, 2016.
